6 oz Nonwoven Geotextile Features
6 oz Nonwoven Geotextile Benefits
Nonwoven geotextiles are robust synthetic fabrics designed to increase soil stabilization and ground support. Made from polypropylene fibers, they are manufactured for strength, flexibility, flow through, and filtration properties. Nonwoven geotextiles are created using a needle-punched process that produces a felt-like fabric with high filtration and permeability rates. 6 oz nonwoven geo fabric is considered a mid-weight fabric. It has greater strength and less permittivity than the lightweight nonwoven geotextiles. It also has less strength but greater flow through than the heavy weight nonwoven geotextiles. 6 oz nonwoven geotextile drainage fabric features a grab tensile strength of 160 lbs, trapezoidal tear strength of 65 lbs, and a flow rate of 110 gpm.
Nonwoven Geotextiles: Our non woven needle punched geotextiles are made from 100% needle punched polypropylene, which is cheaper and more popular than other materials. It is UV stabilized with carbon black, lengthening the life of the fabric. Nonwoven Geotextile comes in a variety of tensile strengths ranging from 80 to 380 pounds.
Woven Geotextile: Our woven geotextiles are also made from polypropylene but in slit film or monofilament form. Slit Film is a thin/wide sheet of plastic and Monofilament is oval/round shaped yarn. Both materials are extruded, slit, stretched to align molecular chains, and finally put on a loom to be woven.
If strength is more important to your project than filtration, Woven Geotextile Filter Fabric may be what your project needs. Give us a call at 1-863-261-8388 for more information or Contact Us through our web form.
More cost-effective, stronger, longer lasting, and with better filtration than the organic options, nonwoven needle punched geotextiles are ideal for erosion control projects requiring filtration. Nonwoven geotextile drainage fabric is also well suited for projects requiring separation of soils and aggregates, soil reinforcement, or slope stabilization, such as:
If your project has rigorous site conditions and needs a stronger fabric, nonwoven geotextile drainage fabrics are available with tensile strengths of up to 380 lbs. Please see: Nonwoven Geotextiles (PDF) or else call us at 1-863-261-8388 for assistance.

One of our other popular soil separator fabrics is Mirafi® N-Series polypropylene nonwoven geotextile. This nonwoven fabric is constructed to easily conform to ground or trench surfaces, ensuring a problem free installation. The N-series’ high flow-through rate makes this drainage fabric perfect for soil separation, drainage and filtration applications. Mirafi® geotextiles eliminate the difficulty of determining the aggregate gradation required to match soil conditions, ensuring your constructed in-place drainage system gives effective filter performance. Find out more about the Mirafi® N-Series or visit our Mirafi® Nonwoven Geotextile page to see all of our Mirafi® options.
