Depending on your budget and requirements, One Clarion carries three models of Type 1 Turbidity Curtain: DOT, Contractor, and Permeable. Type 1 DOT Turbidity Curtains

Type 1 DOT Turbidity Curtains are built to meet Department of Transportation specifications for most states. The DOT Compliant turbidity curtains are suitable for many turbidity control applications. For instance, city construction projects along calm waters may use Type 1 DOT turbidity barriers for runoff control and silt containment. The Type 1 DOT barrier is also our strongest Type 1 turbidity curtain option.

Type 1 Contractor Turbidity Curtains

Type 1 Contractor Turbidity Curtains are the most cost-effective model One Clarion carries. The contractor turbidity curtain is for non-DOT regulated projects with a lighter 13 ounce PVC fabric and 4 inch flotation. With budget-friendly components, it is best suited for light duty applications and very mild site conditions with no waves and minimal silt.

Type 1 Permeable Turbidity Curtains

The Type 1 Permeable Silt Curtain differs from our other turbidity curtain models. Instead of PVC fabric, the type 1 permeable turbidity curtain is made of nonwoven geotextile fabric. This provides permeability along the entire length of the curtain, filtering turbidity while still allowing limited water flow through the curtain skirt. It is for conditions with very calm waters requiring shorter term containment.

Type 2 Turbidity Curtains are ideal for water locations with moderate tidal conditions with moving currents and waves. The Type 2 floating turbidity barrier can be utilized in many situations requiring turbidity control. The silt curtains have been installed for projects involving dredging, coastal construction, remediation, and DOT road construction.

One Clarion has four models of Type 2 Turbidity Curtain depending on your requirements: DOT, Contractor, Heavy Duty, and Heavy Duty Permeable. The maximum recommended site conditions for Type 2 silt curtains include currents up to 1 knot, waves up to 2 feet, and moderate wind.

Type 2 DOT Curtains

Type 2 DOT Turbidity Curtains are specifically for use in Department of Transportation projects that have moderate water conditions. The Type 2 DOT barriers are built to DOT specifications to meet most state regulations for turbidity control. Our Type 2 curtains feature stronger and heavier components than our Type 1 floating barriers, making them more able to withstand stronger waves and tidal conditions.

Type 2 Contractor Curtains

Type 2 Contractor Turbidity Curtains feature a thinner fabric and smaller flotation for a budget-conscious option. If DOT compliance is not an issue, this curtain can provide some light duty turbidity control for very temporary and small projects. With top and bottom stress plates, the Type 2 can withstand some light waves and currents.

Type 2 Heavy Duty Curtains

Type 2 Heavy Duty Silt Curtains are the strongest Type 2 turbidity curtain option that One Clarion offers. Its strength is derived from a thicker 22 ounce PVC fabric, larger flotations, and heavier ballast chain. If you have water conditions that come close to 1 knot with waves up to 2 feet, you may benefit from the robust features of the Type 2 HD silt curtains. The added strength of the heavy duty turbidity curtains helps to stabilize the floating barrier and ensure its effectiveness.

Type 2 HD Permeable Curtains

Type 2 Heavy Duty Permeable Turbidity Curtains have a monofilament geotextile fabric built into the skirt. Adding this filter fabric to the curtain provides turbidity control, and also reduces excess pressure on the curtain. Type 3 turbidity curtains provide turbidity control for fast water locations with strong waves, currents, and tides. Featuring a stronger weight of PVC fabric, bigger flotations that provide greater buoyancy, and heavier steel components, the Type 3 Turbidity Curtain model is our toughest floating turbidity barrier. The increased strength of the Floating Barrier system makes it suitable for long-term, intercoastal, dredging, or remediation projects. Type 3 floating turbidity barriers can be utilized in strong waters up to 1.5 knots.

Type 3 DOT Curtains

Type 3 DOT Turbidity Curtains help you maintain compliance with DOT requirements when your project is in an area with stronger waves. Our Type 3 DOT curtains are built to DOT specifications in most states to ensure your site meets federal and state regulations.

Type 3 Heavy Duty Curtains

Type 3 Heavy Duty Silt Curtains are the strongest turbidity curtain that we carry. It has a 22 oz PVC weight, a 12 inch square flotation, and heavier 3/8 inch chain. If your site has wave conditions of 1.5 knots, the Type 3 HD curtain would be a suitable option for your project.

Type 3 HD Permeable Curtains

Type 3 HD Permeable Turbidity Curtains have the strong components of the standard Type 3 HD curtain, but with a monofilament filter fabric sewn into the skirt. The geotextile filter reduces the load on the floating turbidity barrier, allowing silt containment and turbidity control and helping to ensure the turbidity curtain's longevity.
