DOT Type 3 Barriers are used by the Transport Infrastructure department during road, rail, and bridge construction near flowing, rough water. They prevent stirred-up silt and debris from spreading beyond the construction zone and contaminating nearby ecosystems. With a type 3 turbidity curtain installed, sediment has time to settle, and debris can be skimmed from the surface of the water.
