Flood Barriers

One Clarion flood barriers are constructed using FIBC bulk bags. They act as large sandbags, sitting side-by-side or sewn together, densely packed with dirt to create a temporary flood wall. A county or municipality can utilize multiple bulk bags to create a custom flood barrier system for their areas.

Bulk bags come in three different models with varying shapes and stitch designs:

• U-Panel - U-panel flood bags have three body panels. One piece runs the full length of the bag, forming two sides and the bottom. Two separate pieces form the other sides. These large sandbags maintain a square shape when filled.
• 4-Panel - 4-panel FIBC bags use 4 individual pieces to create a square structure. 4-panel flood bags hold their shape better than any other model. However, since there are more panels, large amounts of stitching are required, making some areas of the bag more prone to failure.
• Circular - Circular flood bags use one tubular piece of fabric to form all sides with stitching only at the top and bottom. The bags still have a square shape when filled, but it is less defined than other models.

When using our FIBC bags for flood barriers, we suggest either the U-Panel or Circular models, as they have less stitching and are less prone to seam failure.

Permanent Flood Barriers – For a more permanent Flooding solution, such as a flood wall in a public park, our large sandbags can be filled with concrete. The bag allows the concrete to keep the proper shape while it sets, creating a uniform wall. In these conditions, the flood bags can be imprinted with county or city logos for aesthetic purposes.

Cofferdam – The Transportation Infrastructure department can use FIBC bulk bags to form a cofferdam during bridge construction or repair. Individual bags can be placed in custom layouts to fit the exact construction space needed. To hold back higher water levels, the bags can be stacked in a pyramid formation.

Gravel and Soil Transport – For leveling and filling purposes, bulk bags can also be utilized to transport soil and gravel to various sites throughout a city or county. For example, a Streetscaping project may need a couple tons of soil to create a grassy median. The filled bags can easily be transported by truck to the job site.

Alternate Option: Large Cofferdam - Large Cofferdams are an ideal candidate for any job site requiring premium protection from flood water or for dewatering construction areas.
