Pre-Drilled Coir Fiber Logs

Coir fiber logs offer a natural solution for hillside and slope stabilization. Made from 100% biodegradable coconut fiber, these erosion control logs support vegetation growth and gradually break down to enrich the soil. Their porous structure retains moisture and allows plant roots to establish, while the logs themselves reduce runoff and soil displacement along riverbanks, lake shores, and steep slopes. Each log includes pre-drilled holes for easier installation, requiring fewer stakes and less labor in the field. As they hold sediment in place and promote long-term ecological recovery, coir fiber rolls provide a sustainable method for sediment control and erosion mitigation.

Pre-Drilled Coir Logs

Amazingly convenient, the installation of these coir logs is a snap. They use fewer stakes; simply secure them with stakes through the pre-drilled slots in the logs. The slots can also be used for planting seedlings. The slots are approximately 2 feet apart. Pre-Drilled Coir Logs are available in standard or high-density options and a variety of sizes.

Coir fiber logs with predrilled holes make installation quite easy. The instructions below provide a general guide for installing pre-drilled coir fiber logs. Keep in mind that your specific site plans might dictate slight deviations from these steps. It is also advisable to follow any plans provided by your onsite engineers when installing coir logs.

• Prepare the trench: If your site requires it, dig a shallow trench along the installation line. Place the coir fiber log in position as outlined in your project plans.


• Remove cardboard inserts: Locate the pre-drilled holes and remove the protective cardboard sleeve from each opening.


• Insert stakes or plant material: Position a hardwood stake or approved plant material into each hole. Stake length should match the log diameter and soil conditions.


• Use additional support for plantings: If planting seedlings into the pre-drilled holes, verify with your site engineer whether additional hardwood stakes are required to stabilize the logs.


• Join adjacent logs: When placing multiple coir logs end to end, secure them together with coir twine to create a continuous erosion barrier.

Coir Fiber Logs' Easy-Installation Accessories

The predrilled holes of the coir fiber logs make them easy to install with hardwood stakes or even plants. Because coir rolls offer natural erosion control, they adapt well to vegetation and will naturally biodegrade overtime. We offer several options for installation accessories. You can use wooden or hardwood installation stakes or plants as mentioned. However, you can also use biodegradable, green stakes in your coir fiber logs. We also offer erosion control installation staples and stapler installers which allow you to install them without bending over. These, however, are not biodegradable and will have to be removed manually once the hillside stabilization techniques have fully degraded.
