For the fire retardant gel spray to work to its full potential, it must be misted with water regularly. Depending on the weather conditions in your area, fire prevention gel will last on your structure for up to 24 hours. However, the fire retardant gel coating will need to be maintained and checked.

Theoretically, the thicker you apply the fire-retardant gel spray, the longer it will last. Once the fire prevention gel begins to dry out, you can lightly mist it with water and it will begin to swell again. The recommended thickness of a coating is ¼" thick.

Once the danger has passed, you'll want to wash off the fire prevention gel from your structure. You can rinse fire retardant gel spray from your home with plain water and a pressure nozzle. If you applied a thick coating, washing the firegel will take more time.

By using a pressure nozzle, you are rehydrating the product to the point that it falls off your structure. Some pressure washing might be necessary. Flush each part of the fire defense system with water after you are finished using it. This will remove all fire prevention gel residue and keep it in good working condition for future fire prevention jobs.
